Federated States of Micronesia launches Integrated Water Resources Management Website 16 November, 2011

The Federated States of Micronesia’s (FSM) Integrated Water Resources Management (IWRM) team have launched a website to highlight the work they’re doing and to raise awareness of IWRM in their country.

The website provides a background of IWRM and how it relates to FSM. It demonstrates the linkages between the Global Environment Facility (GEF) demonstration project and the European Union funded IWRM planning programme.  The website also lists their objectives, achievements, stakeholders and minutes from water committee meetings. This level of transparency makes it easy to track FSM’s progress and direction in implementing Pacific IWRM programmes.

“The website is a work in progress and will develop as our programme does,” said Leerenson Airens, FSM’s IWRM focal point. “We hope to use it to showcase the important work we are doing and to share information with other IWRM projects both in the Pacific and internationally.”

“The website is a great initiative towards progressing information management and information dissemination in the Pacific,” said, Rhonda Robinson, programme coordinator for Pacific IWRM Planning. “The FSM IWRM team must be commended for their insight and commitment to progressing all facets of IWRM.”

“This website is a testament that good things can be achieved with limited resources,” she said.
