Laboratory Best Practices
The principal function of a water testing laboratory is to produce high quality data that are accurate, reliable and adequate for the intended purpose. Most times decisions are made on data that are produced by laboratories. Being an accredited or certified laboratory will ensure that the quality of data the laboratory produces is of high quality. However, getting accredited or certified can be costly and most Pacific island laboratories do not enjoy the luxury of obtaining this. High quality data can still be produced by laboratories even in the absence of accreditation or certification if the laboratory is following good laboratory testing procedures.
