World water day is marked by celebrated events traditionally on the 22nd of march, annually. The pacific region with SPC/SOPAC as the lead agency mandated to address water issues has continually supported this event through the coordinated efforts to launch and highlight the issues and challenges in water as resource, and now more recently as a human right as designated at the UN general assembly: "safe and clean drinking water and sanitation as a human right"
The impetus therefore is to translate this into relevant concrete actions around the region for pacific island peoples to understand the community, national and regional levels water and sanitation are addressed. World Water Day helps bring these various issues under thematic areas to a head through various regional celebrations. The following links are completed resource materials and optional materials which were produced to mark the celebration of WWD in the pacific.
