Dave Hebblethwaite

Dave Hebblethwaite joined SOPAC in 2010 after three years leading an Asian Development Bank project tasked with strengthening the capacity of the Vietnamese government to address pollution in one of the country’s most populated river basins.   Prior to this, Dave’s work focused on the protection and sustainable use of Australian rivers, wetlands and coastal waters, including the development and implementation of water policy and regulation in New South Wales and Victoria.  His experience in Australia, Asia and the Pacific has given him a strong appreciation of the need for policy makers to work closely with those responsible for implementation on the ground, to ensure that policy tools are matched to both local issues and local capacity.  His move to the region honours a promise he made himself during his first travels in the Pacific as a young lad.
