World Water Day
World Water Day 2013 for the Pacific- Water Cooperation: Building Water Partnerships in the Pacific Island Countries and Territories World Water Day also referred to, as ‘World Day for Water’ is a regionally and globally recognised annual event to help focus on water, its development and conservation and implementation of recommendations of Agenda 21. World Water Day is traditionally observed on 22nd March annually. United Nations Water in collaboration with key agencies such as the Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO), UNESCO, UNECE, UNDESA are leading this years celebrations.

The Secretariat of the Pacific Community through the applied geocience and technology division take an active role in the planned 2013 activities for the celebration for world water day in collaboration with our Pacific WASH coalition partners who work collaboratively in the region delivering in water and sanitation initiatives.

The regional theme for World Water Day 2013 is : "Water Cooperation: Building Water Partnerships in the Pacific Island Countries and Territories"
The SPC- Applied geoscience and technology division has coordinated World Water Day Campaigns for the past several years and has recently partnered with its Pacific WASH Coalition partners to mark national and regional activities in celebration of the event. WWD campaigns have included the development and distribution of publication material, organising regional competitions, and marking the day with a public awareness event.
